Alex joined the Sports department at Bray & Krais in March 2026. He advises high profile sportspersons on a wide range of areas, spanning commercial contracts, the protection and exploitation of IP, including sponsorship deals, and private client affairs.
Prior to joining, Alex spent four years at magic circle firm, Slaughter and May, where he was an associate in the tax department, working on a mix of transactional, advisory and contentious matters involving highly technical and novel issues and structures for large multinationals, PE houses and growth companies. A highlight was working on VAT advisory matters for a Premier League club. He has also advised on employment tax issues and has a strong grasp of agent representation arrangements and image rights structures.
Alex also did a trainee seat in the IP & IT team and can draw on his experience of working on cross-border commercial contracts, including international franchise agreements and an F1 services agreement, as well as contentious IP matters, such as a patent dispute for a cycling team and global trade mark proceedings for a carmaker.
Alex speaks fluent Spanish and Italian, graduating from Oxford University with a first. As part of his training contract, he spent six months on secondment in Milan at leading firm BonelliErede. There, he gave a presentation at Bocconi University about private equity’s increasing interest in football. He also drafted key agreements for a MotoGP team and advised an influencer on a brand joint venture with a PE house and a media agency. He continues to develop a growing network of contacts in Spain and Italy in the sports sector.
